Want to Know a Little About Me?
Sheldon W. Swartz, MA/LMFT
I received my MA in Biblical Counseling from Grace
Theological Seminary under Dr. Larry Crabb and Dr. Dan Allender in 1984
and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. As an ordained minister
and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors I have 25+
years counseling experience. I work with marriage and parenting
issues, depression, addictions (especially sexual addiction), adults dealing
with the effects of childhood trauma and abuse, anxiety, grief and loss, and
issues of spirituality in all stages of life.
I received some training in spiritual direction at the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in
Elkhart, Indiana since I recognized that my underlying my counseling was an awareness that what
is going on in a client's life often has a spiritual component to it and i wanted to help clients access
that resource as they dealt with the issues on the surface.
I especially enjoy working with the mystery of life and how God uses difficulties we encounter to
clarify our deepest longings and desires and to invite us into a journey through suffering into joy
and purpose. I believe that light is always more powerful than darkness and that as we sincerely
seek the light/Light our ways of seeing and living are sometimes quickly but more often slowly
transformed into the way of Love.
