Coaching
What is "Coaching?"

Coaching is a partnership in which the goal is your growth.  Unlike counseling which
is focused on overcoming problems, coaching is a present and future-oriented journey
focused on your dreams, goals, and God’s call on your life.  Your coach will partner with
you in identifying your values, priorities, dreams, and objectives and will help you develop
a strategy to reach them.  A leadership or life coach can provide challenge,
accountability, perspective, support, resources, and motivation to help you turn your
goals into reality.  Coaching can assist persons in succeeding at their personal goals in
many different spheres of life, including relationships, health, spirituality, physical
fitness, parenting, career, time management, and life transition, among others.

What is unique about Christian coaching?

Coaching has been around in the corporate and
sports worlds for a long time.  The difference between
Christian and secular coaching, however, is that unlike
sports coaching (in which the coach is the expert who tells
you what to do) and secular coaching in the corporate world (in which you are the expert
and the coach helps you listen to your inner voice), Christian coaching acknowledges
God as the  ULTIMATE expert.  The Christian coach believes that God is the initiator of
change in our lives and that God’s plan is to transform every believer’s life.  The
assumption of Christian coaching is that the transformation process will be grounded in
Scriptural values and principles and will lead
not only to increased effectiveness, but
also to increased holiness.
