Counseling
What is "Counseling?"

Counseling is a process whereby a person seeks to resolve personal, interpersonal, and/or
spiritual difficulties with the assistance of another caring individual.  As counselors we bring our
own level of maturity, expertise, and experience to the sessions, but of course the ultimate
responsibility for growth and change rests with the person seeking help.  One of the roles of the
counselor is to observe and call forth the strengths and abilities of the counselee to deal
constructively with their own unique challenges, as well as offer compassionate support in
accepting and transforming weaknesses.

Struggling with our own limitations and weaknesses is part of being human.  However, if you find
yourself responding to life in inappropriate or destructive ways and feel unable to change,
counseling can be helpful.  Here are areas we can help with:

How is Christ-centered counseling unique?

Christ-centered counseling utilizes theories, insights, and techniques which are consistent with
God’s Word expressed in Scripture.  Along with genuine, honest interaction dealing with the issues
of concern to the client, counseling sessions are characterized by the counselor’s active reliance on
the Holy Spirit and may include prayer and attention to spiritual issues such as sin,
forgiveness and
grace.  Values such as reverence for God,  hope, love of others, service, justice and mercy are
foundational in the healing process.
